And Then He Left

He left yesterday.
We only had five years together
And then he left.
Every day twins are separated,
Fathers are killed,
Infants are wrenched from their mothers’ arms.
But my brother is only leaving for a while,
I will see him again,
But that does not heal the slowly deepening
Wound in my heart.
