I am reminded of the story of a little girl on the beach...

A storm had washed up hundreds of starfish.
The beach was just littered with them.

Even though it was near nightfall, the little girl felt so sorry for the stranded starfish she began throwing them back into the ocean, one by one.

A man stood and watched her for a while, then told her that she couldn't possibly throw them all back in, so she was wasting her time.

He pointed out to her with adult logic that her efforts couldn't possibly make any difference to the overall scheme of things.

As she threw yet another starfish back into the water, she looked up into his eyes and replied brightly, "To this one it does!"

So, too, we can make a difference to the people to whom we show consideration.
